Exam Availability
TIE offers:
- General Examinations (paper-based) every month
- General Examinations (online) every 15 days
- On Demand (paper-based) examinations for partner schools
Exam Structure
TIE adopts a unique testing approach, in which the 4 language skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing) are tested holistically through 2 exam parts:
- Spoken TIE Exam: assesses interactive Speaking and Listening skills.
- Written TIE Exam: assesses interactive Reading and Writing skills.
Innovation
TIE’s innovation is the use of the candidate’s preparation material in the exam itself.
In both parts of the TIE exam, candidates use 3 tasks that they have prepared before the exam (Prepared Tasks). Candidates choose the content of their 3 tasks so that they can be examined on topics of their interest.
Achievement Test
In TIE, candidates receive a grade that corresponds to a level of language proficiency based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Their performance in the exam determines which CEFR level they have achieved.
Candidates are then awarded a certificate indicating the level of qualification they have achieved.
Exams' Frequency
With TIE exams every month (paper-based, online and On Demand for partner schools) candidates can sit for TIE exams throughout the whole year.
